Behind the flyer

The team that keeps this flyer

This flyer is written and edited by the Flyer desk, its own editorial team. This page covers who that is, how the facts get checked, where the pictures come from, how the flyer is paid and where to write.

Who keeps the flyer

The Flyer desk is the editorial team behind coquitlamcasinos.com. It signs everything as a group, so no single name or byline appears. No casino, racetrack or gaming operator employs the desk, and it does not take bets of any kind.

The result is a plain weekly-style guide to Great Canadian Casino Vancouver on United Boulevard. The flyer also covers eight other casinos in the region. All of them, Coquitlam included, appear on the All nine casinos page. Hours, addresses and phone numbers are checked on each venue's own pages, and every check is dated.

How the facts are checked

Before each round, the Flyer desk opens every venue's own pages and official sources such as BCLC, the province and TransLink. Every round carries a date, and the latest one ran in October 2026.

  • Published sources come first. What a venue or official body posts is read before anything else.
  • Conflicting numbers stay out. If two sources give different numbers, the flyer prints neither.
  • Hours are posted hours. Venues can change them, so a phone call before the trip is wise.
  • Distances are straight lines. They are measured on a map as the crow flies, not along streets.

The full method sits on How the flyer is made.

Where the drawings come from

An image program, rather than a camera, produced every picture on the flyer. Most of them are ink and wash drawings. The bus stop, lake, map and kitchen table show general scenes. Any people seen in the drawings are invented.

Drawings of Cascades Langley, Elements Surrey, Cascades Delta, Grand Villa Burnaby, Starlight New Westminster, Hastings, Parq Vancouver and River Rock follow real photographs. The theatre stage at Great Canadian Casino Vancouver is drawn the same way, each scene shifted slightly in camera angle and hour, without visitors. The one photograph is the River Rock sign tower by Mike W., via Flickr, cropped, under a CC BY-SA licence. The marina drawing follows a GoToVan photo via Flickr under a CC BY licence, and both name author and licence below.

How the flyer is paid

The paid links are on the home page only, and each one is marked Ad. If a reader follows one, the flyer may earn a commission. The advertising partner can change over time. Inner pages, including this one, carry no ads.

For the record, the Province of British Columbia says PlayNow.com, run by BCLC, is the only legal online gambling site in BC. More on that is on Casino online in BC, and the full money story is on Ads and money.

Gambling in BC is for adults 19 and over. If it stops feeling like fun, Gambling Support BC is free and open 24/7 at 1-888-795-6111. There is more on Gambling support.

Where to write

Letters for the flyer go to [email protected]. Readers write to point out an error, report an hour that has moved, or ask how the flyer works.

That mailbox is the flyer's alone. Anything about a casino itself is best asked on that casino's phone line. Great Canadian Casino Vancouver takes calls on its main number, 1-604-523-6888.

If gambling has stopped feeling like fun, Gambling Support BC answers at 1-888-795-6111. The service costs nothing and runs 24/7. The Gambling support page has more details.
