The casino in a few lines
Hastings Casino is at 188 North Renfrew Street in Vancouver. That is 17.8 km from Coquitlam City Centre and 16 km from the United Boulevard casino, both as the crow flies. Great Canadian Entertainment runs it. The operator traces the grounds back to 1889.
Live thoroughbred racing is over. On December 5, 2025, Great Canadian announced it would no longer run a racing season at Hastings, effective immediately. The casino and the simulcast racebook carry on.
A sale is pending. On November 7, 2025, Great Canadian and Tsleil-Waututh Nation signed a definitive agreement for the Nation to buy the casino portion of the business and the casino-related property. It needs approval from gaming regulators and the City of Vancouver. Trade press reported it had not closed as of mid-June 2026. As of October 2026, Great Canadian still runs the casino.
Getting in
You must be 19 or older to enter. Since June 26, 2023, every visitor to a BC casino has had to show government-issued photo ID at the door, whatever their age. Bring the original card. Photos and copies are not accepted. Security scans the ID and checks it against the list of people barred from entry, including people enrolled in Game Break. The venue's own page says personal information is not kept.
On the floor
This is a slots room. The operator lists dining and slot machines, and nothing else. There are no table games and no poker room. The operator's own pages give different slot counts, so this flyer gives no number.
The simulcast racebook is still running. The official site posts a monthly schedule of race listings and post times. Encore Rewards works here, the same card used at United Boulevard.
Food, drink and the rest
- The lounge sits steps from the gaming floor. It has a full-service bar, 15 flat-panel TVs and a stage.
- Jerome's is off the racebook. It is a casual spot for breakfast, burgers and monthly food features.
- The Clubhouse, once called Silks, is listed as open during live racing only. Racing has ended, so do not plan on it.
Some race-day items from 2025 are still posted on the venue page. Check the date before you count on anything you see there.
