Plain talk about money

How the flyer pays its way

The flyer is free to read. It earns its money from one place: a single paid link on the home page, marked Ad. Here is how that works, and what is never paid for.

One paid link, on one page

The flyer runs on one paid link to an online casino partner. That link sits on the home page and is clearly marked Ad.

No other page carries ads. The inner pages, including this one, have none.

How the money works

The partner pays the flyer a commission. The partner can change over time. If it does, the new link is marked the same way.

The commission does not shape what the flyer says about the casino on United Boulevard, the theatre, the bus routes or anything else. The how the flyer is made page explains where the facts come from.

What the partner is not

The paid link is not PlayNow. It is not run by BCLC or the province. The flyer does not claim the partner is licensed, approved or regulated, and the ad should not be read that way.

For context, the province says PlayNow.com is "the only legal online gambling site in B.C." PlayNow, run by BCLC, says other sites may be reachable here, but without a B.C. licence they are not legal. There is more on this on the casino online in BC page.

What is never paid

  • Links to the venue's own site are not paid.
  • Links to PlayNow, BCLC and GameSense are not paid.
  • Links to TransLink and Ticketmaster are not paid.
  • Links to Gambling Support BC and other support services are not paid.

No venue pays for coverage. That includes Great Canadian Casino Vancouver and the casinos on the nearby casinos page. There are no sponsored listings and no paid reviews.

Adults only, and help if you need it

Gambling in British Columbia is for adults 19 and older. The flyer is written for adults.

If gambling stops feeling like fun, Gambling Support BC is free and open 24/7 at 1-888-795-6111. The gambling support page lists other options, including Game Break.

Questions

Is the online casino partner on the home page licensed in BC?

The flyer does not claim it is. The province says PlayNow.com is the only legal online gambling site in BC, and the paid link is not PlayNow.

Does Great Canadian Casino Vancouver pay to appear in the flyer?

No. No venue pays for coverage, and links to venues, PlayNow, TransLink and support services are not paid.
