The downtown one

Parq Casino, the downtown option

Parq Casino sits on Smithe Street in downtown Vancouver, about 20.8 km from the United Boulevard casino as the crow flies. Here is what is different about it, and what to know before making the trip.

The casino in a few lines

Parq is the downtown casino. It is at 39 Smithe Street in Vancouver, and the casino floor is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

From Coquitlam City Centre it is 23.3 km in a straight line. From the United Boulevard casino it is 20.8 km. Real routes are longer. TransLink's trip planner or a map will give you the route.

The venue says it is 800 metres from Yaletown–Roundhouse Station on the Canada Line and 850 metres from Stadium–Chinatown Station on the Expo Line.

Getting in

Same rules as every casino in the province. You must be 19 or older. Everyone shows government-issued photo ID at the door, whatever their age. Parq says this on its own FAQ page too.

Security scans the ID and checks it against the list of people who are not allowed in, such as those enrolled in Game Break. BCLC says no personal information is saved for people who are let in.

Bring the original card. Photos or copies are not accepted. A driver's licence, BC Services Card, BCID or passport all work.

Parq says there is no specific dress code.

On the floor

The venue lists slots, baccarat, poker, blackjack, roulette and electronic touch machines, plus Stadium Gaming. It does not publish machine or table counts.

The poker room is on Level 3, at the top of the escalators, and it is open 24/7. Parq calls it BC's biggest poker room. It does not say how many tables it has.

Encore Rewards works here. To join, go to Guest Services on Level 2.

Food, drink and the rest

Parq is a resort with two hotels on the property: the JW Marriott and The Douglas.

Places to eat and drink named on the venue's site include Honey Salt, The Victor, D/6 Lounge and KOI Noodle Bar. There are others. Hours and menus are on the official site.

Compared with United Boulevard

A few differences stand out for a Coquitlam visitor.

  • Parking. BCLC's casino listing describes parking at United Boulevard as free. At Parq it is paid, pay-by-plate, and on-site self-parking runs 24 hours. Encore Rewards members park free when they use their card at tables or slots and earn at least 15 points.
  • Poker hours. United Boulevard's poker room is listed as open 10 AM to 4 AM Monday to Thursday and 24 hours Friday to Sunday. Parq's poker room is open 24/7.
  • Hotels. Parq has two on site, which suits a night downtown.
  • Loyalty. Both use Encore Rewards.
